ADVOCATE FOR LIBERATED ABORTION ACCESS & REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM

The legal protections to abortion care provided by Roe v. Wade were never enough. Missourians understand all too well the consequences of politicians compromising on our bodily autonomy; decades of which in our state slowly chipped away our access to abortion care until the overturn of Roe v. Wade in June of 2022 forced our last remaining abortion clinic to close.

Being denied an abortion has serious consequences. The largest study of the long term effects of being denied an abortion, the Turnaway Study, found that people forced to continue unintended pregnancies, and consequently their families, are likely to experience long-term economic insecurity and hardship. People denied abortions also face increased risk of future birthing complications and remaining in contact with abusive partners.

Abortion access does not exist in a vacuum. The decision to parent depends on our mental, physical, and socioeconomic well-being. As abortion advocates, it is our job to show up and connect liberated abortion access to every facet of life and every issue of liberation.

Abortion should be legal, locally and financially accessible, and stigma free. No restriction on abortion access is just, compassionate, or acceptable. Missourians deserve more.
