Voters again ready to reject another abortion ban at the ballot box later this year

Missouri, statewide: Today, February 14th 2026 marks the one- year anniversary of legal and available abortion in Missouri following the historic vote of the people to end the ban on abortion and establish rights to Reproductive Freedom. This time last year, the Jackson County Court granted a preliminary injunction to Missouri’s Planned Parenthood affiliates and the ACLU of Missouri, effectively pausing the ban on abortion and number of medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion throughout the implementation trial process. Planned Parenthood Great Plains provided the first in- clinic abortion in Missouri since the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

Statement from Mallory Schwarz, AAM executive director: “Missourians demanded legal and available abortion care when we became the first state to end a total ban on abortion by a vote of the people. Today marks the one year anniversary of the restoration of Missourians’ abortion rights. As we face down another political attack on abortion and personal freedom in the new Amendment 3, and we are reminded that it was everyday working Missourians that made this victory possible;  it will be everyday working Missourians that lead us to victory this year when a majority of Missouri voters will again say NO to banning abortion.
