Our Committment to
Racial Equity & reproductive Justice
Abortion Action Missouri is committed to achieving racial equity and reproductive justice for all by uplifting historically disenfranchised communities, dismantling white supremacy and addressing other interlocking systems of oppression. We are creating a diverse movement to address the intersecting forms of social, economic, political, and reproductive oppression that shapes all of our lives, and specifically impacts the lives of Black, indigenous, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ communities across Missouri.
We strive to transform the institutions that uphold these intersecting systems. While we are not a reproductive justice organization, we strive to utilize the reproductive justice framework – supporting the human right to have children, to not have children, and to parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities. We will become the change we wish to see in the world by starting with our own organization.
We commit to cultivating a transformative culture within Abortion Action MO’s staff, board, and membership that builds authentic relationships and centers the leadership and demands of those communities across Missouri. We believe in a Missouri where people live self-determined lives and maintain their bodily autonomy, including the decision if, when, how, or with whom to start or grow their family, and to parent in safe, healthy, and thriving communities.
Together with our allies we commit to building a future marked by reproductive freedom for all Missourians.
