Missouri, statewide: Today, January 12th 2026, began the historic trial over the implementation of the voter-established abortion rights amendment Missourians voted on in 2024. Missouri became the first state in the nation to legalize abortion, and establish a constitutional right to Reproductive Freedom by a vote of the people.
Statement from Mallory Schwarz, AAM executive director: “Today we heard in great detail how the decades of politically motivated regulations forced on abortion providers were never about anyone’s health and safety, but part of the State’s historic obsession with Missourians’ pregnancy decisions. We saw the same Attorney General’s Office that once got caught illegally tracking the periods of Planned Parenthood patients spend a shocking amount of time forcing expert doctors to describe the intimate details of how pelvic exams are conducted, as part of their long held desire to force abortion patients to get medically unnecessary pelvic exams. This kind of creepy intrusion is exactly why Missourians voted to kick politicians and the state government out of our private, family, medical decision making.
